Ring Them Bells

The taste of noise rock. The sound of dark beer. Ring Them Bells are launching their debut album, a collaboration with Danish microbrewer Mikkeller, which combines the two into a unified experience, where music and beer go hand in hand.

The results are strong, intense and mind-altering – exactly like the band’s sound.

Burnt Toast Vinyl will release the physical version of the album, an etched 12″ record, pressed in Nashville – at the same factory that Jack White prints his Third Man releases.

The Danish brewer Mikkeller is responsible for the liquid portion: A 75 cl., 10% pitch black porter brewed with coffee and Ring Them Bells’ music in mind. Master brewer, Mikkel Borg Bjergso of the famous Danish microbrewery Mikkeller, has crafted a 10% porter inspired by Ring Them Bells’ music. The tracklisting on the vinyl has been chosen keeping in mind the taste and development of the Porter over time.

Ring Them Bells discover, through 6 songs, the effects of guitar-noise and it’s intoxicating impact. Opening track “Nowhere For Me To Get Lost” has been given the nod as the first single, while the following tracks “I Ride Alone” and “Technicolour” have both received heavy airplay on National Danish Radio, P6Beat.

Johannes Nidam (guitars and vocals) explains the concept:

“The thought process behind this novel approach was to offer the listen a total experience. Music and beer go hand in hand, and we wanted our listeners to appreciate and experience Ring Them Bells with all their senses”.

“The dark, atmospheric beer fits perfectly into Ring Them Bells’ universe. At first it appears slightly sombre and introverted, but with further sips it begins to unravel its true character, full of complexity and a long, lasting aftertaste”. With words like that from chief brewer Mikkel Borg Bjergsø, who are we to object?

The vinyl features one side which is etched with the beers recipe, so that enthusiasts can experiment with their own versions of the beer while the record plays in the background. The etching was created by renowned American artist Half Handed Cloud. The package containing the Ring Them Bells vinyl, along with the hand-crafted beer will be released as a limited 500 pressing, and will be on sale in Denmark and Europe via Mikkeller and hand-picked vinyl stores. Burnt Toast Vinyl will handle the responsibilities in the USA.

In the past few years, Ring Them Bells have played countless concerts in Denmark, Sweden and Norway and were invited to Nordklang Festival in Switzerland. They were also invited by David Eugene Edwards of Woven Hand to support them on their latest tour in Scandinavia. One year after the band released their first single “Technicolour”, and “I Ride Alone”, they are finally ready to bring their music from the venues into your living room.

Ring Them Bells are not novices to the music scene: Johannes Nidam (guitar and vocals), Jan Johansen (guitar), Moogie Johnson (bass) and Johannes Dybkjaer Andersson (drums) have all played vital rolls in various successful and critical acclaimed bands throughout the years, which have their roots in everything from folk, pop and electronica.

The self-titled debut album is built on the four band members enthusiasm for noise rock and massive soundscapes: effective riffs are central to the songs upon which melodies and vocals are added. This is classic songwriting, where the backbone is filled with references to the 60’s soul and blues era, combined with psychedelia and noise.

Ring Them Bells debut album hits the streets the March 18, 2013, on vinyl, digitally, and in liquid form.
